What to do and where to go?

The Isle of Wight is renowned for its scenery, lovely walks and cycle tracks. Borthwood Cottages are ideally situated for exploring the Island whether you are walking, cycling or in a car. Locally there are lovely walks and bike rides - you can explore nearby Borthwood Copse or stroll around Alverstone Mead Local Nature Reserve. You can pick up the disused railway track at nearby Alverstone Village and walk or bicycle into Sandown one way or Newchurch the other. At Newchurch you will find a lovely old church and The Pointer Inn Public House (in case you need light refreshment!). The Pointer Inn serves excellent food.

Nothing is very far away on the Isle of Wight. For example:-

Sandown - 2 miles
Shanklin - 3 miles
Ryde - 7 miles
Newport - 8 miles
Cowes - 14 miles
Yarmouth - 18 miles
and of course, The Needles - 23 miles
